SUPPORT THROUGH THE PROCESS

Less uncertainty.
Better follow-through.

A claim involves people, records and decisions. We help the employer organize its part of the process and keep the next steps visible.

01

Reporting & documentation

Help gather accurate information, organize the timeline and prepare the employer’s supporting records.

02

Communication & coordination

Track outstanding information and support communication between the employer, worker and WCB, within the agreed authorization.

03

Modified work & return to work

Help identify meaningful duties, document arrangements and coordinate follow-up around the worker’s abilities and restrictions.

04

Supervisor readiness

Help supervisors understand reporting, respectful communication and their role in a workable modified-duty plan.

05

Workplace learning

Connect incident findings and claim follow-up with practical prevention and program improvements.

A RETURN THAT WORKS

Meaningful work.
Appropriate duties.
A plan people understand.

Timely, well-coordinated modified work can reduce avoidable time away and help workers stay connected to the workplace when it is medically appropriate.

We help put the practical pieces together. WCB determines claim entitlement and benefits; return-to-work arrangements must reflect the worker’s functional abilities and restrictions.

BUILD CAPABILITY BEFORE YOU NEED IT

An injury response
shouldn’t start from scratch.

01

Prepare your supervisors.

Clarify who reports, who gathers information and who stays in contact with the worker.

02

Know your work options.

Review job demands and potential modified duties so suitable options are easier to consider.

03

Keep the records useful.

Use clear offers, progress records and review points to support consistent follow-up.

72HOURS

Know the Alberta reporting requirement.

For injuries or illnesses that meet WCB-Alberta’s reporting criteria, employers must report within 72 hours of becoming aware. Modified work beyond the accident date can itself trigger reporting. Contacting us does not submit a WCB report.

A FEW PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Clear expectations.
Useful answers.

Can you help with an active claim?

Yes. Reach out with a general description of the support you need. We agree on scope, authorization and the appropriate way to review detailed records before beginning.

Can you help us prepare before an injury happens?

Yes. Supervisor guidance, reporting routines, job demands information and a practical modified-work program can all be addressed before a claim arises.

Does modified work mean a claim does not need to be reported?

No. WCB-Alberta reporting criteria can include modified work beyond the date of accident, medical treatment beyond first aid and other specified outcomes. Follow the official reporting requirements even when suitable work is available.

Can you guarantee a claim outcome or premium reduction?

No. WCB makes entitlement and benefit decisions. Our role is to help you provide accurate information, meet responsibilities and coordinate appropriate workplace support.
